The Black Box Bakery

Jean Marie Althaus had been baking and experimenting with recipes for family and friends for years. And after about the 100th person said to her, “you should sell these cakes…” she decided to take the plunge into entrepreneurship and launch The Black Box Bakery.

When she came to us, she had thought about some possible names for the business and how she might brand it, but it was all still very up in the air. It was clear that her cakes were going to be show stoppers and presentation was important. Naming the business after the sleek black boxes she wanted to deliver each cake, gave us the chance to create a high-end brand, that would surprise and delight its customers every time they opened that black box.

We developed the logo with a modern typeface and simple white outline, which was the perfect addition as a sticker to the top of each one of her boxes. The square of the box is a subtle detail used throughout the branding. We developed a simple website she was able to showcase all her amazing cakes and gather orders from clients. We often point our clients to Squarespace so they have total control to update things in the future and to make it easy.

Every time we see a new cake from The Black Box Bakery, we’re ready for a slice!
